Everyone here calls me "Hon" or "Darlin'", especially women. Even the catcalls in Old Town are backhanded compliments
("I love ya, B****", spoken by a skater with an inside voice)
which only reinforces my predilection for New Mexico and the nearly two decades of tiny kindnesses I've received whenever I've visited...this is not a good example.
